While at Doctor Kares we have made a name for ourselves as a center of excellence for minimally invasive treatments for back pain as alternatives to surgeries, there are absolutely some conditions for which surgery is the most appropriate and effective treatment. Our team of neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons routinely operate on such patients. If a patient, for example, has a bony cause for their spinal pain, it may require surgery. Also, if a patient has loss of bowel or bladder control associated with a herniated disc, it is a surgical emergency. We operate on such patients in a state of the art operating room with full anaesthesia support and back-up.
